Tasmania’s PCR labs will be expanding services this week, to offer more protection for local communities.

From Tuesday August 9, laboratories will be testing swabs for Covid-19, as well as Influenza A, Influenza B and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

Premier Jeremy Rockliff maintains it’ll provide additional protection from disease outbreaks.

“Having testing capability that differentiates between the four most common respiratory illnesses will give people certainty and allow them to manage their symptoms accordingly,” Mr Rockliff said.

There will be no changes to how you book your test or how the test is completed.

Free state-run testing clinics are still open 7 days a week in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie.
