Tasmania’s four major public hospitals are to come under industrial action by nurses from this Monday morning where staff will work to rule and campaign against claimed onerous conditions.
The Nurses and Midwifery Federation’s Emily Shepherd isn’t ruling out future stop-work action unless the state government does something about overload on its members.
“The transfer of care procedure is the straw that’s broken the camel’s back in terms of additional pressure on our hospitals in terms of access and flow with no additional resources and obviously adding to the workloads of our members in the emergency department.”
Transfer of care time limits were introduced by the state government as a response to so called ambulance ramping.
