Hobart’s rents have risen another 6.4 per cent in the year to September with $540 a week the median for houses and $450 for units.
A Proptrack report reveals regional Tasmania’s rents for houses and units have leapt by more than 11 per cent over the year but held steady in the quarter.
Analyst Cameron Kusher says despite that, Hobart’s house rents dipped nearly two per cent over the September quarter.

“What we’re starting to see in Tasmania is a bit more supply; the number of properties available for rent has started to increase, whereas in most other parts of the rest of the country it’s continued to tighten,” he said.
“In regional Tasmania, houses and units saw no change over the quarter.”
