UTAS Opens Important Building In Launceston

UTAS has cut the ribbon on The Shed, the last of three new buildings at Inveresk in Launceston.

It contains specialised allied health clinics, nursing simulation training and science labs.

“Anyone who’s seen it is so excited at the thought of a building as good as you could find anywhere in the world with courses as good as you’d find anywhere in the nation are available right here in their own local community, you don’t have to go away for better.”

On hand for the opening was federal Education Minister Jason Clare as his government contributed $130 million to the university’s relocation from Newnham.

“Education changes lives and this building will change the lives of generations of people here in the north of Tasmania.”
