The Civil Contractors Federation’s Women in Civil training programme has produced 10 graduates in Tasmania today (Thursday).
Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson is delighted that the female graduates are already receiving job offers.
“The civil contracting sector sees only 4% of the industry being women…we need more people to come into our our industry, it is a job rich and a training rich opportunity right now as the pipeline is bigger than it’s ever been before.”
The construction industry predicts it will need to increase its workforce by around 25% over the next four years to handle $27 billion worth of private and public projects.
