Work has started on a major upgrade to the junction Chapel Road and the Frankford Highway at Harford.
The upgrade is one of two being funded through $27.5 million of State and Federal Government funding, with the other near Pipers River in the North.
The Harford junction will be re-aligned to a standard T-junction and widened to allow road users to be able to safely pass a turning vehicle.
Infrastructure Minister Kerry Vincent says the work is expected to be completed by late May.
Mr Vincent says feedback from locals and key stakeholders was a major focus in identifying improvements for the junction.
Road users are being asked to allow an extra 15 minutes of travel time on the Frankford Highway due to reduced speed limits and frequent lane closures while the upgrade is completed.
