Charges after NSW pursuit, officer assault

A man will face court on a string of charges after a police pursuit in the NSW town of Mudgee.

Along with dangerous driving, the 25-year-old is accused of assaulting a female officer and possessing a large hunting knife.

Police say the man was involved in a domestic dispute on Friday afternoon but had left the house before officers arrived.

They later saw him in his vehicle and he allegedly sped away when they tried to pull him over.

After a short pursuit, the man allegedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot before being arrested.

He was refused bail and will appear in Mudgee Local Court on Saturday.
