Police have indicated the victim of a fatal gunshot wound to the head may have been in touch with multiple people, shortly before his death in the state's south.
The body of Jarrod Turner was discovered on the side of Colebrook Road, 2 kilometres north of Richmond, early on Sunday morning.
Tributes are continuing to pour in for the 22-year-old from Gagebrook on social media, who's being described as a loving father of two young children.
The roads surrounding the crime scene have since been reopened, as an autopsy is being carried out by experts.
"This is a really tragic and unfortunate event that's deeply affected the family of the victim," Detective Inspector Doug Rossiter said.
"All I can say at this point is that there are indications that the victim may have known the people he was with, shortly before he died."
For operational reasons, police are refusing to comment much further on the incident.
"We've recieved a lot of information...we've spoken to a lot of people and we have tracked some of the movements of Mr. Turner prior to his death. And we're aware he has spoken to a number of different people, so there is more than one person we're certainly keen to speak to."
