Building boom continues at Latrobe and Port Sorell

The building and construction boom at Latrobe and Port Sorell continued with the Latrobe Council receiving applications for projects for the month ofr August of more than $7.2 million.

The figures were tabled at last night's Latrobe Council meeting and related to 44 applications, including more than $6.4 million for dwellings.

Last night's meeting was also told the council was powerless to influence banks which had closed down rural and regional branches, including at Latrobe.

The comment was made by the council's corporate and business services manager in response to a letter from a ratepayer.
