Bass Highway works raamping up

Felix Ellis
Roadworks on the Bass Highway are ramping up as better weather continues.

Braddon MP Felix Ellis says the State Government has committed $280 million to overhaul the highway between Devonport and Launceston.

Mr Ellis says work is also underway at nine locations on the highway between Wynyard and Marrawah.

He says the highway between Wynyard and Cooee will also be upgraded, and preliminary geo-technic work has started on the new Cam River bridge at Somerset.

Overtaking lanes, pullover zones, and road widening and strengthening works are also planned for the Lyelll Highway between Queenstown and Strahan.

Mr Ellis acknowledges the Government needs to lift its game on highway maintenance, which he says, means keeping contractors accountable.
