Some Coastal Family Law matters to transfer to Launceston

Some Family Law Court matters on the North-West Coast will be transferred to Launceston in November.

Members of the legal fraternity have been informed sittings of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia matters previously heard in the Devonport and Burnie Magistrate's Court, as well as the Burnie Supreme Court will transfer to Launceston from November 12.

The only reason the Federal Court has given for the decision, is that it no longer considers the Coastal facilities adequate.

The changes will require solicitors and clients from as far afield as Burnie and Smithon to travel to Launceston to have matters heard
