Jane Etta Pitt, the beloved mother of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, has sadly passed away at the age of 84. Known for her appearances alongside her son on red carpets, Jane was a cherished figure within her family and community.
The heartbreaking news was shared on Instagram by Brad Pitt’s niece, Sydney Pitt, the daughter of Brad’s brother, Doug Pitt. Sydney posted a touching tribute on August 6, sharing photos of her grandmother and honouring her legacy.
“My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet, but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier,” Sydney wrote. “If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.”
Sydney’s tribute highlighted the incredible impact Jane had on her family and friends. “She taught me how to paint, how to be strong, how to lead with kindness, to love Jesus through everything, and to find joy in the smallest things,” Sydney added. “She was the kind of person who made everyone feel special and brought laughter and love wherever she went.”
Jane Etta Pitt is survived by her husband, William Alvin Pitt, and her children, Brad Pitt, Doug Pitt, and Julie Pitt Neal, as well as 14 grandchildren. Her love, kindness, and values continue to shape the family she adored.
As fans mourn alongside the Pitt family, Jane’s legacy as a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife will always be remembered.
