Just when you thought it was safe to wander the Wasteland, Bethesda has decided to turn up the terror. Fallout 76 just released its massive 70th free update, aptly titled The Slasher, and it is bringing some serious horror vibes to Appalachia.
A copycat killer masquerading as the infamous Pint-Sized Slasher is currently terrorising the map. Instead of dropping all the content at once, the developers are treating this like a mystery that unfolds over time. Between now and December 1, you can expect new clues, unmarked graves, and scavenger hunts to pop up each week. You will need to investigate grisly scenes, dodge devoted cult followers, and piece together the evidence before the final cinematic showdown.
If dodging a fanatic with a knife sounds like a good time, you will also be rewarded for your survival skills. The update brings new themed power armour and weapon skins for those brave enough to dive in.
The best part? The game has never looked better. Alongside The Slasher, Bethesda rolled out the much-anticipated next-generation upgrade. If you are playing on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5, you can now run Fallout 76 at a smooth 60fps and 1440p resolution. Owners of the PS4 or Xbox One versions get this upgrade entirely for free.
So, dust off your best gear, grab a friend, and start investigating. The Wasteland just got a lot more dangerous, and the hunt is officially on.
