If your social media feed is overflowing with five-in-the-morning ice baths, glowing green powders, and morning routines that take longer than a full-time job, you are definitely not alone. It seems the wellness industry has taken over our lives. But according to new data, people are officially tired of it. Australians are experiencing a serious case of “wellness fatigue,” and they are turning to a surprisingly simple, old-school solution: overnight oats.
The End of the Endless Morning Routine
A recent study by Uncle Tobys revealed that more than half of Australians (56 percent) are feeling entirely overwhelmed by the pressure to keep up with modern health trends. We are being told to track our sleep, measure our heart rate variability, and drink a bizarre mix of lemon and salt before the sun even comes up.
It has become so exhausting that 36 percent of people surveyed said they would genuinely rather clean their bathroom than watch another wellness hack video online. The sad irony is that while we are distracted by expensive gadgets and complex routines, we are forgetting the absolute basics. A staggering 55 percent of people admit to skipping breakfast simply because their mornings are too chaotic.
Bringing Breakfast Back to Basics
This is exactly why the obsession with overnight oats has taken over Australian refrigerators. We do not need a subscription model to eat well. In fact, 95 percent of people agree that a healthy lifestyle should not require expensive products or tech gadgets.
To combat this modern madness, Uncle Tobys launched what they call the “Oatimisation Protocol.” It sounds technical, but it is actually a fun parody about how overcomplicated things have become.
The protocol is just four steps: Pour, Chill, Eat, Repeat. To make it even easier, they released the “Oat Ring” a physical ring you wear to remind yourself to put your oats in the fridge at night. There is no app, no charging cable, and no data tracking. It is just a piece of metal that reminds you to make your breakfast, but that in itself is very clever.
UNCLE TOBYS Head of Marketing, Kimberley Finsten, said: “Wellness has become incredibly complicated. We’re constantly being told there’s another thing we should buy, track or add to our morning routine, when sometimes the simplest habits are the ones that matter.”

The Best Overnight Oats Recipes
If you are ready to ditch the complicated routines and join the back-to-basics movement, overnight oats are the perfect starting point. Here are three foolproof recipes to get your mornings back on track.
1. The Classic Berry Vanilla
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup milk of your choice
- 1/4 cup Greek yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Handful of mixed berries
Mix the oats, milk, yoghurt, and vanilla in a jar. Top with the berries, seal it, and leave it in the fridge overnight. It is creamy, sweet, and packed with energy.
2. Peanut Butter and Chocolate
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon honey
Stir everything together until the cocoa is fully mixed in. The peanut butter adds a great texture, and the cocoa makes it feel like you are having dessert for breakfast.
3. Tropical Mango and Coconut
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup diced fresh mango
Combine the oats, coconut milk, and shredded coconut. Top with the fresh mango. This one is light, refreshing, and perfect for warmer mornings.
Good health does not have to be a confusing mathematical equation. Sometimes, all you need is a jar, some oats, and a little bit of preparation the night before.
