Former Penguin basketballer Lachie Barker has been re-signed by the Tasmania Jack Jumpers ahead of the National Basketball League season, which starts on Thursday night.

28 year-old Barker, who was cut by the reigning NBL champions at the end of last season, has been brought back into the fold as a nominated replacement player for former North West Thunder player Sean MacDonald, who will miss up to three months due to an ankle injury.

Barker, who has also played for the North-West Thunder, as well as Melbourne-based Frankston Blues in the NBL-1 South Conference competition, joined the Jackies line-up half-way through last season when import Marcus Lee was ruled out with a serious knee injury, with Barker going on to play 11 games for the club.
