Devonport boy may have been driving in fatal crash

Police believe a 15-year-old boy killed in a Latrobe crash overnight, could have been behind the wheel.

The Devonport boy died at the scene, following a collision between a Holden Ute and a Mercedez Benz travelling in the opposite direction.

Initial investigations indicate he was the driver of the Ute when it crashed just before midnight.

One passenger in the Holden Rodeo, a 14-year-old boy from Devonport, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Launceston General Hospital by Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a serious but stable condition.

Another passenger in the Holden Rodeo, a 14-year-old boy from Devonport sustained serious injuries and was transported to North West Regional Hospital by ambulance in a serious but stable condition.

The 61-year-old Mercedes driver was treated at the scene, his 60-year-old passenger taken to hospital after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
