Mineral exploration on the West and North-West Coasts has been given a boost with extension of the State Government’s Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative.
Resources Minister and Braddon MP Felix Ellis says the programme, now in its sixth year, is very timely with a global shift to find the minerals needed for renewable energy industries.
Mr Ellis says Tasmania can become a global leader the space.
The Government funding will allow explorers to test greenfield locations to find new and potentially lucrative mining opportunities as well as the re-examination of old mines.
Mr Ellis says exploration leads to more resource projects and more jobs in the future for Tasmanians, especially in regional communities.
