Public school families are among those hardest hit by bus cancellations.
First day of term’s been marred by 78 Metro Tasmania cancellations in Hobart, due to a shortage of bus drivers and extra sick leave as a result of Covid.
The Greens have previously blasted the state government over what they view as negligent Covid policy, insisting at the very least masks should be compulsory on public transport.
Another aspect considered part of the shortage of bus drivers is the frequent abusive behaviour they endure such as being spat on.
A survey of drivers recently finding what they regard as a lack of support and leadership is leading to resignations and not turning up for shifts.
