Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says we’ll see more of him on the North-West Coast in the lead-up to next year’s Federal election.

Mr Albanese visited Burnie and Devonport last week.

Sitting Braddon Liberal Member Gavin Pearce has announced he won’t contest the next election, leaving the seat vacant.

Mr Pearce won the seat from sitting Labor member Justine Keay in 2019 and successfully defended it at the last election, with Burnie City Councillor Chris Lynch as his main opponent.

Mr Albanese says while Labor has yet to announce a candidate, he says Braddon-based Senator Anne Urquhart and other senior Labor figures already have a short list of possible candidates, with several people expressing an interest in running.

He says the Braddon Electorate deserves a strong voice in a Parliament as Part of a Labor Government and he’s confident of a strong Labor candidate.
