Supermarket giant Coles has initiated a dedicated collection service for the North-West Coast to pick up abandoned shopping trolleys.

Abandoned trolleys have become an issue in Burnie, Ulverstone and Devonport, with councils in discussion with Coles.

Coles says it’s now purchased it’s own trolley truck for the North-West Coast and employed drivers to collect them on Tuesday and Friday each week.

Anyone finding an abandoned trolley can report it by ringing 1800 TROLLEY, or 1800 876 553, or by installing and using the Coles app on your smartphone.

The 1800 number is also marked on the red trolley handles.

The calls go directly to the North-West trolley team, which Coles says will endeavour to collect the trolley as soon as possible.
