Tasmania’s Coronavirus numbers have ballooned out overnight.
Public Health is reporting 1,700 new cases in the last 24 hours, a spike from yesterday’s 1,588.
There are currently 79 people in hospital with COVID and of these, 16 are being treated specifically for Coronavirus symptoms.
784 people are using the COVID@Homeplus program.
Two people are being cared for in the ICU.
Sadly, a person in their 80’s has passed away in the State’s North.
Their death takes Tasmania’s Coronavirus toll to 97 since the start of the pandemic.
Public Health is monitoring 8,201 active Coronavirus cases state wide.
4,494 active cases can be found in the South, with 1,986 recorded in the North and another 1,393 in the North-West.
Vaccination rates are climbing slowly with over half of all kids aged 5-11 years old now fully vaccinated.
63.16% of children in the age group have received their first Covid jab.
Over 72% of Tasmanians 16 years and older have received their first booster.
That figure sits at more than 86% for locals over 50 years old.
Even though mask mandates have been lifted, Premier Jeremy Rockliff reminding us to keep up Covid-safe behaviours.
