Covid-19 hits 19 aged care facilities

Tasmania’s Coronavirus toll has climbed once more.

Two men, one in his 60s and one in his 80s, have passed away in the State’s South.

Their deaths take the count to 104 since the pandemic began in 2020.

The news follows 1,780 new cases recorded overnight, with new infections still outpacing recoveries.

Four people are being cared for in the ICU.

816 people are using the COVID@homeplus program, three people are receiving treatment at a Community Case Management Facility.

There are 106 COVID-positive inpatients at Tasmanian public hospitals, with 27 patients being treated specifically for COVID.

319 hospital staff across the state are furloughed from work due to them either being COVID-positive, or being a close contact of a positive case.

There are currently 19 active outbreaks being managed at Tasmanian residential aged care facilities.
