Picture: Stolen truck located by police at Sheffield
Tasmania Police is warning people on the North-West Coast to be wary of a potential driveway scam operating in the state.
The scammers operate nationally, but police say they received multiple reports last month suggesting they were operating in the North of the state.
This week, Latrobe Police located and seized a stolen bobcat and trailer at Sheffield, believed to be linked to the group.
Following the seizure, police received a report of the group undertaking work in Railton.
The group have been known to offer both businesses and residents discounted driveway repairs, or roof painting services.
In some cases, they have completed the work despite the business or resident declining the offer, using intimidation tactics and providing what appears to be a legitimate business card or invoice.
Police are urging people to be wary of unsolicited approaches and to contact police immediately if they feel unsafe or threatened.
Information can be supplied to police by calling 131 444 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or on-line at crimestopperstas.com.au
