Police say they’re not impressed with the results of road safety operations in the Gawler and Preston areas, South of Ulverstone over the weekend, which included seven drivers being charged with drink-driving offences.
On Saturday afternoon police officers issued 11 infringement notices for speeding in the Preston and Gawler locality.
Police returned to the same area in the early hours of Sunday morning, conducting around 300 breath tests.
Seven people were charged with drink driving between 5am and 11am.
Police say that’s seven more people who were putting the community at risk.
They say motorists can expect more road policing officers patrolling isolated areas of the North-West and on the West Coast in the near future.
Police say road policing officers are planning operations and tailoring them to the element of our community who feel they can get away with it.
