Tasmania’s Coronavirus death toll tops 150

Tasmania’s Coronavirus toll has climbed once more.

A man in his 70s has passed away in the North of the State overnight, taking the count to 152 since the pandemic first began.

Public Health is reporting 651 new infections in the past 24 hours.

85 Covid-positive people are in hospital, 23 of those patients are being treated specifically for symptoms.

Five people are being cared for in the ICU.

437 people are using the COVID@Homeplus program.

Active case figures have dropped from 4,982 to 4,742 over the past day, with more than 230,000 Tasmanians recovering from Covid-19.

2,586 of those cases can be found in Tasmania’s South, with over 2,000 spread across the North and North West.

Public Health has strongly recommended wearing a mask in all indoor public places and on public transport, and in other settings, if you can’t physically distance.

Masks must still be worn in all our public hospitals.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff is reminding those of us who have symptoms to stay home and get tested.
