TasRacing has walked away from a plan to build a new greyhound and harness racing facility on the North-West Coast near the Devonport Airport to replace the Devonport Showgrounds venue, which closed more than two years ago to make way for an as-yet to commence housing development.
TasRacing CEO Andrew Jenkins says the $18 million project had blown out to more than $38 million, making it cost prohibitive.
