Hundreds of elite triathletes have descended on Devonport for the Devonport Triathlon Festival, which gets underway on Friday.
The action on day one will include the second round of the World Triathlon Para Series, which will in effect be the first round, following the cancellation of round one in Abu Dhabi due to bad weather last weekend.
Importantly, Friday’s races will also carry qualifying points for the Paris Paralympics in August.
Saturday’s programme will include the Elite and under 23 Oceania sprint distance championships and the Tasmanian Olympic distance championships.
The sprint distance Oceania titles will consist of a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride, and a 5km run.
Sunday’s programme will include the mixed teams relay Oceania championship.
