Ulverstone and Burnie to do battle in Cricket North West grand final

March 22, 2024 9:40 am in by

Premiership glory awaits either Ulverstone or the Burnie Hurricanes in this weekend’s Cricket North West grand final, which gets underway at Latrobe today.

The three-day season decider will start at 10.30 am today, with no clear favourite on recent form, ensuring the match should be a close one.

Ulverstone will be aiming for it’s third premiership in a row, while Burnie hasn’t tasted premiership success since 2019, also seeking some form of revenge for the last two sides’ grand final encounter in 2019 when the victory went to the Black Caps.

Burnie won it’s way into the grand final with a semi-final semi-final win over the Wynyard Tigers, while Ulverstone were impressive in their big semi-final win over Sheffield, which included Black Caps all-rounder Jacob snare scoring an unbeaten 138 runs and also taking six wickets.

Meanwhile, the Cricket North second grade grand final will be a two-day affair, tomorrow and Sunday at Sheffield, between Ulverstone and Sheffield.
