Vinnie supporting Tasmanians for 125 years

Vinnies is celebrating 125 years of service to Tasmanians.

The first Tasmanian chapter of the St Vincent de Paul Society was founded in Launceston in 1899.

Vinnies state president Corey McGrath says Vinnies and its network of members and volunteers continue to provide practical support, advocacy and friendship for thousands of vulnerable Tasmanians.

Its services include food vans, emergency relief and accommodation, youth support, and supported employment.

Much of the organisation’s funding comes through donations to and sales from its 26 op shops across the state, including eight in the North-West and West at Latrobe, Devonport, Ulverstone, Burnie, Wynyard, Smithton and Queenstown.
